Development of a metrological measurement of the Casimir-Polder potential through the diffraction of metastable argon atoms by material nanogratings under normal or oblique incidence

Thèse présentée par Julien Lecoffre pour obtenir le grade de
Docteur en Physique de l’Université Sorbonne Paris Nord

I am pleased to announce that my PhD defense will take place on Thursday, January 9th at 2PM in the Fermat amphitheater.

My thesis focuses on the development of a metrological measurement of the Casimir-Polder potential through the diffraction of metastable argon atoms by material nanogratings under normal or oblique incidence.

I will present the experimental setup as well as the theoretical models used to measure the Casimir-Polder potential. I will then discuss an analysis of the measurements we have performed and share preliminary results on a new technique for measuring the Casimir-Polder potential involving the inclination of the nanograting.
