Presentation

The Laser Physics Laboratory is a Joint Research Unit of the CNRS (UMR 7538) and the Sorbonne Paris Nord University (formerly Paris 13 University).

We study the interactions between light and matter. Our experiments range from the most fundamental fields to applied research: quantum, atomic and molecular physics, photonic devices, biomedical optics, etc.

The laboratory’s scientific themes extend to interfaces with chemistry, biology and nanotechnologies.

Research in the laboratory is structured into five axes and is supported by five general services.

The Laser Physics Laboratory is made up of approximately 80 people (10 CNRS researchers, 30 teacher-researchers, 15 technical staff, more than 25 doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows) to which are added interns and foreign visitors.
